New board..

Woow what a weekend .. last week finished with me kind tired (2 xmas parties[1]) The weekend was looking nothing like relaxing. I had a snowboarding 2 birthday parties and a house warming planned for the two days .

Snow boarding was good fun, we went to Xscape in milton keynes. It was the first time I have been there, a good place to practice but the boarding itself is uneventful. I can understand why some of my competent friends cant be arsed to go there. The slopes are small but mostly well cared for, getting early seems to be a must, when we left it was getting busy and much crash avoidance was required. The lifts were horrid, slow and painful button lifts .. YEACK!

Any hoo, the snowboard shop there let you try out board and bindings for FREE (I guess they hope you will buy them, but I have NO idea why ANYONE ever uses hire kit there give that this shop is letting you try the good stuff). I tried a burton canyon 163 board with burton mission bindings. As a beginner with little experience I have no idea if this is a good setup but it felt right. The bindings have this wizzy strap that cups your toe so it pulls yer foot back into the binding. The straps being placed like this means that heal edge is a lot more comfortable, tbh is easy to forget the toe craps I have felt before when trying to get a good grip on the board. I considered buying this setup but was told that the bindings are tres popular and out of stock the world over .. way to dash my dreams guys 🙂 .. the board also was out of stock 😦 . Back in london however, I found that one shop had .. du du du!!! one set of bindigs AND a board in stock. I wasted no time in buying them (and a board bag for good measure). They kindly agreed to post it all back home for me which is brilliant as I had a party to goto that evening. It did feel kinda odd though spending 500 squids and walking out with nothing but a tiny reciept.

I dont get to see it now till christmas day as the board is a pressent from anna. I will post some pictures when I get to use it.

[1] Is it me or is chritmas starting early this year! Christmas parties in the first week of december sounds a little excessive.
